Waking the Giants

"The Story of the Giants" From the play The Good News, written and directed by Jon Tracy. The story was read by the character Z, played by me.

Jon wrote this amazing disturbing and gorgeously beautiful play that we did last year. I posted this monologue here on opening night, but as it's been well over a year, and I found new pictures that just scream at me to go with the story again, I decided to repost it. Plus most people who read this now, did not read it back then. And if so, well enjoy again. :)

The Earth used to be covered with big big humans.
Bigger then the buildings.
Big enough to swim the oceans.
Big like the Redwoods we gape at.
Big enough to shut down the mind.
Shut down now - and listen.

The Earth was happy.
They were happy.
All of them.
They knew how to love and win.
There was peace in the beginning.
There was.

Then suddenly we came.
Somehow.
And things weren't happy anymore.
We have a way of making things very, very sad.

The big ones asked us to just stop.
Stop and be happy.
But we didn't listen, and kept on being mean.

So the Giants had a meeting to figure out what to do.
Because something had to be done.
They thought about burning us.
Or drowning us.
And many things they felt were not in their nature.
And this made them sad.
Because they didn't want to change.

So they decided to all go to sleep.
Because at least there in their dreams, they could still be happy.
But they promised, that if ever things got so bad that they woke.
They would surely stand again.
And they would destroy us.
They thought this was fair.

So they laid down on the Earth, pulling their blankets over them.
Their vertical shapes creating our mountains.
Their snores, our quakes.
Ready...

Waiting...

Beautiful, Stunning, I want to be one

I love Sylvia Ji's stuff. How could I not, really. It's the culture and art styles that I deeply connect to. Maybe I'll just paint my face and go as one of these beautiful ladies for Halloween. Pretty sure it's the same outfit I wore as one of my costumes last year, Frida Kahlo. Ughh these are just soo pretty.

Quotes that really hit me:

Ernesto Guevara de la Serna: How is it possible to feel nostalgia for a world I never knew?

Ernesto Guevara de la Serna: Even though we are too insignificant to be spokesmen for such a noble cause, we believe, and this journey has only confirmed this belief, that the division of American into unstable and illusory nations is a complete fiction. We are one single mestizo race from Mexico to the Magellan Straits. And so, in an attempt to free ourselves from narrow minded provincialism, I propose a toast to Peru and to a united America.

Miner's Wife: Are you two looking for work?
Ernesto Guevara de la Serna: No, we aren't looking for work.
Miner's Wife: No?... Then why are you traveling?
Ernesto Guevara de la Serna: We travel just to travel.
Miner's Wife: Bless you... Blessed be your travels.

Falling In Love, With Death...

I watched this movie On Demand last night, after wanting to see it for ages, and fell in love. This is truly a real love story, for someone like me.. The first minute of the film, I already was pulled in, and knew what was going on.. It's beautifully made, with a wonderful soundtrack (Gogol Bordello anyone?! Yes, Please!) and the imagery is breathtaking.. You really should check it out!

Beauty in the Details....

My awesome brother David Andrew found this Flickr site yesterday, and subsequently found the actual website for this breathtaking ball join dolls, Enchanted Doll. Please note that most of the dolls have some nudity, so it may not be safe to check out the sites now if you are at work or whatever. But it's so worth it to check out at some point. The details are amazing (and we all know how I feel about details!)

They are all so beautiful.. Look at the tiny feet and hands! The way that they can be posed and emotions that they portray! I really wanna make one myself. Set a weekend aside and just hide out in my room or my brothers and we can work the whole time to try and make our own. I don't know how to even start, or where to start! I want a million, in all sorta of styles.

It was quite hard for me to find some pictures that showed off the beauty of these dolls, and not be too naked. :) But I'm going to go get sucked into the website for a while and check out all the different girls. So amazing! The artist is so talented it's crazy!

Big shout out to my brother for finding this and sending me the links so I could post it here! Thanks dude! <3
