Summer Goal

Happy Summer!

Last summer I bought a new journal to sketch in and as always, i loose inspiration and get sucked into just writing in it... which in turn, makes it too personal... especially since I wrote entry after entry about my last break up and how much that tore me up... and the resulting great friendship that came out of it...

SO, I'm looking for a smaller notebook to carry with me (and a pencil, eraser and pen) everywhere I go this summer. My phone takes great pictures... and as I'm a visual person, I can take pictures with it of things, to put into the sketchbook. I love my old journals that were image entries of my life... and how I was feeling/what I was doing... So I'm going to start again. Probably will still write in the old one... but this is my first summer after so many life changes... Single, living in Sac, mentally doing well for a while. (This will be my 5th year off meds, and I firmly believe my 5th year free of my Aug breakdown. I want to capture the world in illustrations. The world I see.

then hopefully i can scan and post some of the entries here..

in other news, it's fraking cold in my office and my head is all foggy.. meh!

So say we all...

Finally got to watch some BSG last night... it'll take me forever to watch the whole series, and movies, and everything that came after.... I think I'm half way through the 3rd season at the moment... But, after a month of waiting for my friend to get the next netflix disc... I can say it was worth the wait.

I'm terrible to watch shows with. At least I fit well with the one person I watch most of them with, we like subtitles at all times, and pausing for snacks, and smoke breaks, and to just discuss what the fuck is happening, or confirming thoughts, or just rants... It's nice.

... and I still want Starbuck's tattoo... Just sayin..

If i dont write it down or take pictures... I'll forget..

Last night:
-Drove out to Berkeley with Gillian and had a great talk.
-Ate La Vals with her and Lee.
-Got verbally and semi physically attacked by an old crazy man with a giant backpack and no sense of personal space.
-Saw 12th Night, twas amazing, and Sarah was fantastic!
-Drove to the King Fish with Sarah to meet Colin, to find my friend Sean from Fairfield there, and then Taz and Lynell showed up! <3
-Had a great night of my worlds colliding.

Looks like my move is happening tomorrow, with the help of my brother, step dad, and the mini van. Right now I'm just getting everything prepared for loading, and thinking about what to do with my last night actually living in Fairfield. It's not like I wont be around all the time, I work here.. My family is here, I have friends here.

I've moved so many times in the last 5 years... I'm used to it.. There is nothing like the feeling of decorating your room again in a new place. I'm giddy with excitement..

At those moment from where I sit, none of it seems real..

I have a big night planned, dinner with Gillian and Lee, seeing 12th Night with them. Us all meeting up with some of my Oakland friends to hit up my favorite bar... it all sounds like so much fun...

But right NOW... this instant... I am looking out the window in my office, seeing the wind blowing through the field on the other side of the parking lot.. and the trees... and I have the biggest urge to go to a park and just play. Run around and swing, and climb until I'm completely worn out and need to lay on a blanket in the grass and stare at the clouds.

There are some other things that need to be factored in of course.. it needs to be warm outside, sun shining, not too much wind, so my allergies don't kill me... and some sort of good music being played, either out loud or just in my head... hmm

We will draw the curtain and show you the picture

Tomorrow night I'm going to see Impact Theatre's Twelfth Night by Shakespeare.
I did a show (See How We Are based on Antigone) at this theatre last year, and fell in love with the venue (under La Val's Subterranean Pizza), the company (only doing new plays by emerging play writes, and amazing altered Shakespeare) and the crew (The stage manager from SHWA, Sarah is one of my dear friends, and in the first two photos, Seth was in SHWA, and featured in the last photo, and Melissa who was are artistic director, is directing this one!)
More photos can be found at both the website (link attached above) and on their facebook site.
I am ever so excited to go see this, as I love the story, and seeing it set in modern Hollywood sounds perfect. Plus any show that you can bring your food and beer downstairs to enjoy while watching, is good by me!
BTW my favorite bar ever is not far from the theatre, and a required stop for me whenever I go to the Berkeley/Oakland area! Gotta love the King Fish!

Sew it up tighter...

note to self. shitty poetry that feel soooo good to get out into words, into space, into their inbox and brain... never gets the point across...

Granted, i sent it a while back, not to get anything out of it.. just to show, how i hold emotions. Hell it's a two way street right? Friends do this sort of thing. Share. Collaborate.

I always want to surround myself with people who have a passion for "the arts". Hell, a passion for anything is good... cuz it shows me that you care about something so deeply it hurts. I do. So i need people around who do too. I want more people to make art with. More zombie love missed connections on craigslist correspondence, more painting nights, more co-op poems, here take this book and do stuff to it, give it back and it'll be my turn.

I live for that sorta junk.

Party Party Time.

Hee Hee...

Loooove my shoes!

I feel like this belongs in a "my life" version of Gossip Girl. Ryan and lady in the back ground.. I got my phone out.. haha. Yeah I'm a nerd.

Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday, more car trouble! But it's okay now, thankfully. I'm working on a better post, but for now here are some recent pics of me at the Flip Cup party a few weeks back. I love my shoes. It was a 90's themed party, but I didn't have time after work to get a good outfit. Next time, I swear I will dress up. All photography was taken by my awesome friend Jeff Ebner, who is amazing with his work.

Click to make it larger if you like!

Matt, John, Stew and Derrick, a handful of my dear Rats. :) Derrick is always so dapper. haha

So it's Tuesday everyone, and you know what that means? The Rats in the Alley are playing at Uncle Bong's Pizza! This is my favorite part of the week! Getting to see my friends perform Improv and eat damn good pizza and drink beer! (oh and the karaoke at the end of the night is great too!) Just thought I'd share a little Spot Light on my friends the Rats. Some of them I've known for far too many years, some I've just recently met, and some I'm very close to. They never fail to amaze me. :)

Here is their myspace is you wanna check it out! If you are ever free on a Tuesday night and wanna come drive out to Suisun, it's totally worth it! Trust me!

Oh and don't forget that you can still buy tickets for my friend (and a member of the Rat's) Matt's comedy show in Vallejo on Feb 28th. I'm getting 5 tickets already, and hope that anyone else in the area can make it out too! Here is the website for more info on that Comedy Show!

School of Jesus Fish, reopening!

Our original flyer, designed by the fabulous Rob Dario.
Dr. Simon being a jerk to Anne (hey that's me!) He always wanted to just shut me up.

Anne's "Last Supper" if you will, if pills and water can be a supper.

Irma (Gabby), Debra/Shea (Jen), Dr. Ben (Matt), and Anne (me) goofing off backstage.

So this past fall I was in the amazing play School of Jesus Fish. This was the best show I've ever been a part of. I played Anne, sorta the lead role (score one for me!) and the show was awesome. Not only did every cast member click so well together, but the show was great. The writer even came out to see us perform, and we got quite the media buzz in the Bay Area.

Quick synopsis of the show:
Dr. Benjamin Hamilton's first patient as a therapist at St. Lucy's psychiatric ward is Anne Fencik, a woman who claims she is a prophet -- God's daughter on earth -- perhaps the "second coming." As Dr. Hamilton seeks to cure her, Ann's presence begins to have startling effects on the other psychiatric patients. Is their sudden recovery a result of a psychiatric breakthrough, or of Anne's healing?

Characters:
  • Dr. Benjamin Hamilton: Mid-20s. New, uncertain.
  • Franny: bi-polar, rapid and impatient
  • Dr. Simon Piletti: Upside of forty. A gentle man when things are going his way, but no question he is in charge.
  • Anne Fencik: delusional (?) but quite lucid.
  • Irma: obsessive-compulsive with schizophrenic tendencies
  • Karen Fishback: ex-musician, suffers from periodic visual hallucinations
  • Debra: diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder
  • Sam: 20 years old and tormented by auditory hallucinations
  • Shea Fishback: sister of Karen. Professional musician
The show was extremely difficult for us doing it, hitting some strong subjects. Religion and mental disorders. And allowed the audience to make it's own decisions on if I was crazy, or really some sort of profit from god. Many of us in the show have had our lives touched by someone (if not ourselves) with some sort of mental illness, and that can make a very rough and emotional time during rehearsals and performances. We were all so very supportive of each other, and I hope most if not all of the original cast can come back for this reopening of our wonderful show.
